The Senior HVAC Systems Engineer will work within the HVAC development team, providing product expertise and deep systems knowledge that will drive first-of-its-kind HVAC thermal designs that lower acquisition costs, lower lifetime cost of ownership, provide innovative feature sets, and lower energy consumption.

What you will do:

  • Conduct the HVAC system design using simulation packages to match up the HVAC components efficiently
  • Support HVAC system and equipment validation through comparison between modeling results and commissioning data
  • Follow product schedules and work continuously to meet schedule milestones
  • Work with internal and external resources and companies to bring products to production and implementation
  • Support improvements in advanced technologies to attain a competitive advantage and to maintain AIIR leadership image in technology.
  • Have a deep understanding of the ASHRAE, AHRI, and UL Standards

What you should have:

  • Experience developing high efficiency heat pump HVAC systems utilizing advanced technology such as variable speed compressors, electronic expansion valves and high efficiency motors and microchannel heat exchangers.
  • Thorough knowledge of the engineering fundamentals and the underlying physics of HVAC systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in development of cutting-edge HVAC systems including analysis, system design and performance validation.
  • Demonstrated experience using industry standard system simulation tools, such as Oak Ridge Labs (ORNL) Heat Pump Design Model (HPDM), to answer critical design questions.
  • Demonstrated experience developing advanced control algorithms.
  • Proven ability to work within a product development team and with external development partners, OEM’s/ODM’s, and suppliers.
  • Proven track record of innovation and product success.
  • Experience with a top tier HVAC system manufacturer highly desired.

Job Qualifications:

Minimum bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and 5+ years of relevant experience

Effective problem-solving and analytical skills

Strong organizational and time management skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Strong knowledge of Fluid Dynamics and Thermodynamics

Familiar with the R&D environment

Familiar with HVAC industry specifications, standards, and codes
