HSSEQ Lead Specialist

Our Logistics and Customs Brokerage Division provides global logistics services with a focus on freight forwarding from Houston and Miami via air and ocean, including in-house customs brokerage. Our Procurement and Supply Chain Management Division offers customized, reliable, and sustainable supply chain solutions, sourcing the best value products quickly and efficiently. Our Recruiting and Human Resources Division provides direct headhunting, recruitment process outsourcing, and employer of record services, as well as guidance through complex labor laws, work permits, payroll processing, travel arrangements, executive security, and employee relocation and housing.

Scope of Position

The HSSEQ Lead Specialist is responsible for providing specialized expertise and guidance in the areas of health, safety, security, environment, and quality within the organization. They play a critical role in ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices, as well as driving continuous improvement in HSSEQ performance. The HSSEQ Specialist collaborates with various stakeholders and departments to develop and implement effective HSSEQ management systems, identify and mitigate risks, and promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.

Duties And Responsibilities:

HSSEQ Management Systems:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain HSSEQ management systems, policies, and procedures in alignment with applicable regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the management systems and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant HSSEQ requirements and drive a culture of continual improvement.
  • Work along with the HR Manager to review, implement, and enforce procedures for the ISO System.
  • Lead External and Internal Audits-Organizing and conducting Management Review meetings, including annual follow-ups acting as the focal point and liaison to the HOD, COO, and CEO, as per the Company’s ISO Scope.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential hazards and assess their impact on health, safety, security, environment, and quality.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies and action plans to eliminate or minimize identified risks.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of risk controls and propose enhancements as necessary.

Compliance and Regulatory Requirements:

  • Stay up to date with relevant HSSEQ regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, permits, and certifications.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies and participate in external audits or inspections.
  • This duty should be performed as business needs arise, given that EGI operates as a consultancy firm

Incident Management and Investigation:

  • Lead investigations into HSSEQ incidents, accidents, near misses, and other incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain incident records, analyze trends, and develop strategies to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide guidance and support to stakeholders on incident reporting and investigation processes.

Training and Education:

  • Design and deliver specialized HSSEQ training programs to enhance awareness, knowledge, and skills across the organization.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure that employees are adequately trained in HSSEQ procedures and practices.
  • Promote a safety and quality culture through communication, engagement, and education initiatives.
  • Extend Third Party Consultancy Services on behalf of Excel Guyana Inc. to existing and new Clients and Partners. Relates to the one above

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor HSSEQ performance.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on HSSEQ data, identifying trends, areas of improvement, and opportunities for proactive measures.
  • Update: Prepare reports and presentations for management

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, departments, and external stakeholders to ensure the integration of HSSEQ principles into business processes and decision-making.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on HSSEQ matters, addressing inquiries and resolving issues.

Operational Duties:

  • Assisting with daily operational activities.
  • Assisting with projects by creating presentations, tracking progress, and resolving issues, supporting the procurement and sales departments
  • Managing internal and external stakeholder relations.
  • Preparing and maintaining documents and reports as needed.
  • Assisting the Marine and Supply Chain division in completing any related tasks.
  • Ensuring that all operational processes meet company standards and comply with regulations, such as OSHA and ISO.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Attending sessions and functions related to the department's development.
  • Handles a variety of tasks and daily operational activities related to the business. Their tasks typically include performing administrative duties, assisting with projects, handling RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs, as well as any documents or tasks assigned in relation to tenders and bids.
  • Completing any other duties assigned to you from time to time.

Required Experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in related fields
  • Strong Computer Skills
  • Excellent communication and people management skills.
Required Education and Training
  • Certified : ISO 9001, 14001,445001 or Lead Auditor Certification.
  • Diploma or Degree in OHS Management
  • First Aid and CPR Certified
  • Candidate should have at least 2+ years of practical knowledge of document control
