HR Generalist
Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Human Resource Generalist to oversee the daily operations of the HR department within our industrial, chemical, and construction materials environments. This position will manage key HR functions, including recruitment, compensation, benefits, compliance, employee relations, and safety programs. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of HR practices specific to the manufacturing or heavy industry sectors, ensuring that our workforce is aligned with operational goals while maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Lead the scheduling, task delegation, and daily workflow management of HR staff.
- Assist in conducting performance evaluations for HR team members to foster professional growth and ensure alignment with departmental objectives.
Key Responsibilities:

Training & Compliance Management:
Track and document compliance with mandatory safety and regulatory training programs, certifications, and continuing education requirements specific to the industrial, chemical, or construction sectors. This includes safety training, hazardous materials handling, equipment certifications, and professional licensure. -
Recruitment & Staffing:
Manage the recruitment process by sourcing, interviewing, and hiring qualified candidates for various operational roles. Collaborate with department managers to understand the skills, competencies, and experience required for positions in manufacturing, plant operations, or field-based roles. -
Background & Eligibility Checks:
Oversee background checks, employment verifications, and ensure eligibility criteria are met for all new hires, with a focus on compliance with industry-specific regulations. -
Onboarding & Employee Engagement:
Facilitate comprehensive new hire orientations and oversee employee recognition programs to promote engagement and retention. Ensure that onboarding processes reflect the unique needs of industrial environments, including safety procedures and equipment training. -
HR Program Administration:
Administer key HR programs related to compensation, benefits, leave management, and disciplinary actions. Support managers in addressing performance issues, resolving workplace disputes, and conducting investigations related to workplace incidents. -
Safety & Compliance Oversight:
Ensure company policies adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local labor laws, as well as industry-specific regulations. Work closely with safety officers to maintain compliance with occupational health and safety standards and best practices. -
Employee Relations & Support:
Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related inquiries, including benefits, conflict resolution, and performance feedback. Escalate complex or sensitive issues to the appropriate leadership for resolution. -
Continuous Improvement:
Stay current on industry trends, HR best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies related to talent management and employee engagement. Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the HR department. -
Additional Duties:
Perform other HR-related duties as needed to support the company’s mission, operational goals, and strategic initiatives.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HR software, with the ability to quickly learn new HR systems.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 1 year of HR experience in an industrial, chemical, construction, or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience working with HRIS systems and talent management software is a plus.
