Grain Merchandiser / Buyer Opportunity! Grasslands has been asked to assist our client in placing an experienced agribusiness professional to add to their team in Saskatoon. A great opportunity to bring your skills to a small, family-feel organization, you’ll offer clients honest, profitable trading of food and feed commodities, as well as bio-fuel by-products, from producer to production.

The Client

Our client is a distributor of bulk feed commodities to both feed manufacturers and end-users in the livestock and pet food industries, offering producers alternative feeds that allow producers to make the decisions that best suit their operation. In addition, they are active participants in the distribution of the by-products generated by the ethanol and biofuel industries. Their reputation in the marketplace is one of honesty and professionalism.

This nimble, Saskatchewan-based company works in a niche market. They offer a great team environment in a great, centrally located office, and offer work/life flexibility. The Position

As Grain Merchandiser, you will source grain and grain by-products and concurrently source the end users of the grain you buy. Working with the team, you will complete purchase/sales contracts, assure transportation, maintain credit and payments options, and that products are shipped on-time, as-quoted, so that all your customers merchandising needs are met. Your desk will consist of 50% established contracts and 50% business development.

Your Career Profile Includes:

  • Familiarity with most Western Canadian grains and grain by-products
  • Post-secondary education in Commerce or Agribusiness
  • An entrepreneurial spirit
  • Demonstrated outbound calling experience
  • Experience issuing grain purchase/sale contracts
  • Logistics experience
  • Purchasing and freight experience
  • Knowledge of rail and freight-forwarding
  • Sales skills
