This role will be responsible for
- Trading commodities with a focus on maximizing company profits
- Managing grain origination from country elevators and company-owned facilities
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and end users
- Collaborating across office locations to identify trading synergies
- Monitoring and reporting daily trading positions and execution activities
- Ensuring compliance with position limits, credit policies, and company regulations
- Supporting risk management through hedging strategies and market analysis
- Staying current on commodity market intelligence, supply/demand trends, and trade regulations
Expectations will include
- Partnering with leadership to implement trading strategies and operational procedures
- Facilitating contract-to-settlement workflows between traders and execution staff
- Soliciting new business while nurturing existing accounts
- Understanding and utilizing futures, basis, spreads, and rail rate programs
- Accurately maintaining and reviewing grain settlement and position reports
- Communicating effectively with internal teams and external partners
- Adapting quickly to changes in a fast-moving, global trading environment
- Complying with required educational and regulatory training
A qualified candidate will possess the following
- Minimum 1 year of prior experience in the grain trading industry
- Strong understanding of grain merchandising, hedging, logistics, and risk management
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- A 4-year degree in Agriculture, Business, or a related field (preferred)
- Proven ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
- Physical ability to work at a desk, lift up to 15 pounds, and travel as needed
Compensation: 70,000 DOE
