Title: Government Freight Lead
Location: Birmingham, AL (Hybrid/Flexible)
Compensation: Base + 10% flat commissions on all Government teams'

About the Role

Our Client is expanding its government freight operations- and is looking for a Government Freight Lead to own the entire function.
This isn’t a backseat role. You’ll be responsible for taking their active SCAC with the Department of Defense and FEMA and turning it into a profit center- building out the foundation, team, and processes from the ground up. In addition to FEMA and the SCACS, they’re exploring some other government-type entities that would be worked under this vision. They currently have (1) active SCAC and the ability to add more when it makes sense.

What You’ll Do
• Take full ownership of government freight.
• Manage and execute all SDDC / DOD tenders, bids, unit moves, and solicitations
• Build and refine SOPs to streamline operations and ensure compliance
• Lead unit buildouts and oversee team scaling as volume grows
• Ensure profitability and growth of the SCAC, tracking and driving revenue targets
• Be in charge of running (1) team to start, and many more as we progress.
• Duplicate successful processes across additional agencies and future teams
• Collaborate cross-functionally with leadership to align operations, finance, and carrier sales

What You Bring
• Min 5 Years successful freight brokerage experience
• Min 2 years in government freight (GFM / DOD / SDDC) operations
• Deep understanding of tender entry, solicitations, and military freight protocols
• Ability to operate autonomously and build systems from scratch
• Strong communication and documentation skills- especially in SOP creation
• Entrepreneurial mindset and drive to own a P&L
• Management experience
• Operations background
