We are looking for a seasoned Government Contracts Associate to join our AmLaw150 firm. This role demands a proactive, intellectually curious individual who thrives in a dynamic atmosphere. This full-time, flexible location position welcomes strong candidates, particularly those versed in aerospace/defense, construction, life sciences/pharmaceuticals, or manufacturing sectors.
Salary: $350,000.00 - $550,000.00 per year
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth analysis and provide counsel on bid protests, cybersecurity and acquisition regulation, including compliance with FAR and DFARS.
- Draft Request for Equitable Adjustment (REAs) and claims while managing associated claims analysis and counseling, as well as CDA claim litigation.
- Handle federal subcontracting issues including dispute resolution and compliance with flow-down requirements.
- Work on multiple award contracts and navigate small business procurement rules and regulations.
- Self-manage certain legal matters independently, when appropriate, with a strong ability to determine when escalation is necessary.
- Participate in thought leadership activities, including drafting articles and presenting topics relevant to government contracting and client interests.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Must possess a minimum of 4-5 years of experience in government contracting within a law firm setting.
- Strong analytical and superior writing skills are essential.
- Candidate should have a robust academic background and be in good standing with the Virginia State Bar (highly preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage a caseload, prioritize tasks, and deliver to tight deadlines.
- Proven track record in handling complex legal issues associated with government contracts.
- Experience in litigation is a plus, promoting a comprehensive approach to client advocacy in contractual disputes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in aerospace/defense, infrastructure/construction, life sciences/pharmaceutical, and/or manufacturing industries is highly valued.
- Previous roles that involved significant client interaction and development activities.
- Interest in achieving partnership within a firm and demonstrated capabilities in leadership roles.
- Advanced certifications or training specific to federal contracting laws and regulations.
- Competence in digital tools and platforms pertinent to legal research, case management, and documentation.
