Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the COO of a national truckload and logistics organization that hauls packaged chemicals, apparel, air cargo, home and office products, packaging and containers, paper products, retail, electronics, agricultural and general commodities. With $ 39 million in revenue the company has 180 tractors and 560 trailers and a growing freight brokerage business operating from Memphis, TN.
The General Manager is responsible for the development and management of all sales and operations, including market competitiveness, pricing, and channel growth strategies for the branch. Will create profitable growth revenue with current accounts, while soliciting new sources of revenue and profit. Also responsible for development and growth of an inside sales, account management, and carrier sales teams. Will establish and manage carrier relations and development activities that support the execution of strategies and action plans to enable the profitable growth of the business unit. Will work in coordination with other company resources, develop the strategic and tactical direction for the business unit, and establish management processes. Challenge is to build a world-class team, develop high-level service offerings, motivate, and lead a staff, while increasing revenues and improving profitability.

Background Required:
  • Freight Brokerage Sales and Operations Management (6+ years)
  • Strong Negotiation Ability (Carrier, Customer, Margin Integrity)
  • Sales Management (Hire, Train, Coach, Mentor) (2+ years)
  • Mode of Transportation (i.e., Truckload, Specialized)
  • Strong Selling Skills
  • Develop and execute business plan strategies (Early stage to mature freight brokerage, revenues $25mm+)
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Suite: Power Point, Word, Excel)
  • Residence: Memphis, TN
