Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Sr. VP of Branch Operations for a global logistics and trade compliance organization dedicated to fulfilling the supply chain needs of customers with a strong emphasis on customs brokerage, domestic & international transportation, trade compliance, education, and consulting. The General Manager will be responsible for the successful operations of import and export ocean and air freight for our client for the southern California region. Will provide overall leadership in areas of operational performance, P&L management, customer relations, continuous improvement and staff development and instill a positive work environment that is challenging and engaging. Will negotiate rates and services with various service providers at the local level and oversee rates, quotes and the overall billing process. Will establish departmental goals and measure performance by tracking of goals; streamline and improve on current procedures to create greater efficiencies.

Background Required:
- International freight forwarding experience (10+ years)
- P&L management including budgeting & forecasting
- Staff management & training (25+ employees)
- Strong knowledge of ocean freight
- Business plan preparation and implementation
- Established standard operating procedures & metrics
- Negotiations with local vendors (trucking companies, warehouse providers)
- Process improvement & management
- Strong computer skills: word processing, spreadsheet, presentation & database applications
- Residence: Remote office. Greater Los Angeles, CA area
- Strong understanding of customs brokerage
- Knowledge of air freight imports / export
- Knowledge of CargoWise
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, Business Administration, Economics or other related discipline
- Excellent interpersonal & communication (verbal & written)
- Analytical ability to gather and summarize data for reports and correspondence
- Demonstrated leadership, ability to coach, train & develop staff
- Self-starter
