Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the CEO of a global, independent freight forwarder and logistics provider with 11 branch offices in 5 countries and an extensive network of partners in 38 countries around the world.
The General Manager will build and grow the organization’s present structure in the United States, comprised of 5 branch offices, 20 employees, and a P&L of $25M. The primary responsibility is to grow the company’s footprint in the USA, develop a strong and effective team, departments, and branches. The successful individual will drive a strategy to generate revenues, optimize costs, maximize profitability to include sales, team management (hiring, training, developing), SOPs establishment and oversight, and monthly reports to include file closings and budgeting. Implements continuous improvement processes designated to achieve operational excellence through performance metrics (KPIs) and ensures employees are coached, trained, measured, and managed to execute these processes. Establishes policies and operational guidelines in accordance with the company’s goals, policies, and philosophy. An excellent brand ambassador, externally known for superior client partnering, who maintains and develops effective business relationships across the board. Negotiates and monitors rates and contracts with various vendors, shipping lines, airlines, and trucking companies. Adheres to company, federal, state, and local business requirements, enforcing compliance and acting when necessary.

  • Growth track record
  • Excellent client relationships with account ownership and transfer possibility
  • Management experience in the transportation and logistics industry (10 years, 7+ direct reports)
  • Multimodal transportation (air, ocean, land)
  • P & L management including budgeting, forecasting & reporting
  • Established standard operating procedures & metrics
  • Business plan development and implementation
  • Work experience with small and large sized organizations
  • Knowledge of changing markets and leveraging tech to optimize business opportunities
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Computer Systems: Microsoft Office Suite
  • Travel: Available to travel when required
  • Location: Houston, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, Charlotte, or New York

  • Education: MBA or Master’s Degree
  • Heavy Lift, oversize, and chartering (air & ocean)
