Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic General Manager with an active Master Electrician License to lead an established electrical contracting company into its next phase of growth. This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated leader to oversee all field and office operations, drive business development, and participate in the company's success through incentive goals and potential ownership opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities

Operations Management

  • Direct oversight of all field and office operations for a mid-size industrial electrical construction company
  • Execute job site inspections to ensure optimal quality, safety, and efficiency standards
  • Manage day-to-day workflow and project execution across multiple departments
  • Serve as responsible party for profit and loss accountability

Team Leadership

  • Interview, hire, terminate, and promote personnel as needed
  • Manage manpower scheduling and resource allocation
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and professional development
  • Lead and mentor teams across Design/Build, Water/Wastewater, and Service departments

Project Management & Estimating

  • Prepare and/or review estimates from plans for Design/Build projects ranging from $50K to $4MM
  • Review contracts and prepare comprehensive proposals
  • Ensure strong project documentation and compliance with specifications
  • Oversee projects from conception through completion

Business Development

  • Market services and develop new customer relationships throughout Houston/Harris County
  • Leverage existing industry connections and local following
  • Identify and pursue growth opportunities in target sectors
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships

Technical & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Secure necessary City and County permits
  • Provide technical guidance and problem-solving expertiseRequired Qualifications

Licensing & Experience

  • Active Texas Master Electrician License REQUIRED (or actively pursuing and near completion)
  • 10+ years bidding and managing Design/Build projects valued between $50K and $4MM
  • 5+ years minimum in Electrical Contracting Management positions
  • Career progression through the electrical trade with certified electrical training programs
  • Demonstrated experience in Manufacturing Facilities, Water and Wastewater Plants

Technical Expertise

  • Comprehensive design capabilities including:
    • Load Calculations
    • Service Design
    • Voltage Drop calculations
    • Conduit and wire calculations
  • Working knowledge of Motor Controls, PLCs, and general instrumentation
  • Proficiency with National Electrical Code and permit processes

Sales & Market Knowledge

  • Proven sales experience and extensive knowledge of the Houston/Harris County market - ESSENTIAL
  • Must be Houston-based with established local connections
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain client relationships
  • Local following of tradesmen and business contacts strongly preferred

Management & Leadership Skills

  • Strong management and leadership capabilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and teams
  • Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail

Technical Proficiency

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • AutoCAD experience required
  • Sage 300 experience helpful
