Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the President for a national transportation provider.
The General Manager-Drayage oversees the management of a growing port logistics business – intermodal drayage. Expecting 100% YOY growth while keeping a keen eye on margin integrity and operating income. Collaborates with executive team to develop and implement company objectives and performance targets related to long- and short-term strategies. Strategic partner with company leadership to drive and attain objectives that are in alignment with established company vision, mission, and values. Coordinates operations with sales, safety, maintenance, driver recruiting & retention, information technology, finance & accounting. Participates in development of the overall strategic direction. Will participate in acquisition integration and operational excellence as the company continues to grow. Oversees the planning freight and directs route planning to prevent deadhead and maximize fuel and toll use across all divisions. Manages business to meet or surpass all budgets and business plans, supporting P&L. Creates operational and sales forecasts and budgets. Mentors’ employees to meet competitive business requirements and support succession planning. Engages in continuous improvement of business processes in partnership with team members and management.

Background Required:
- Transportation operational management – intermodal drayage (5 years)
- Fleet Management, Customer Service, Load planning & extended coverage
- Multi-facility account oversight
- Fleet size (100 power units)
- P&L Responsibility
- Establishing standard operating procedures, KPI’s and metrics
- Safety, CSA, DOT, OSHA, FMCSA
- Computer Literate: Microsoft suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Residence: East Coast
- Transportation software
- Experience growing a carrier into larger entity
- Identification of performance obstacles & cost reduction opportunities
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (i.e., Supply Chain, Logistics or Transportation)
- Excellent written, verbal, & presentation communications
- Technology champion (Artificial Intelligence, Business Intelligence, use data to drive decisions)
