Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer for a nationwide logistics company with over 100 locations and thousands of independent-owner operator drivers.
The General Manager – Austin is responsible for leading and managing daily operations of the Austin, TX station to consistently achieve business goals and maximize profitability. The successful individual will perform efficiently in a high-pressure environment and demonstrate excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills while leading & managing people, ensuring smooth operations, and achieving and exceeding revenue targets. Will oversee daily operations, manage budgets, and set performance objectives. Identifies and manages internal issues, customer concerns, incident reports, and legal actions, by determining root cause and rectifying permanently. Recruits, trains, and supports staff members as well as conducts regular performance appraisals. Manages internal and external stakeholder relations and negotiates contracts and purchases. Plans, evaluates, and optimizes operations efficiently and cost-effectively while ensuring products and services comply with regulatory and quality standards. Identifies vendors and resources to assist in problem-solving for customers and create greater revenue margins.

Background Required:
  • Transportation and Logistics (5 years)
  • Management & leadership experience (3 years)
  • Multimodal (e.g., FTL-LTL, Final Mile, Domestic Freight Forwarding, Hotshot, Expedite)
  • Warehousing & cross-docking
  • P & L Management
  • Business Plan development and implementation
  • Negotiations
  • Metrics measurements (e.g., pricing, delivery, costs, quality)
  • Client relationships with possibility of transfer
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Office, CRM Systems, Project Management tools
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
  • Residence: Austin, TX (Relocation assistance provided)
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration or management

  • Domestic Freight Forwarding operations, multiple sites, national level
