Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Kitchener is looking for a General Machinist. The successful incumbent will independently read and follow instructions to plan and perform all operations necessary to set up and operate the “Tool Room”, machine shop turning as well as non-turning manual and NC machines and its attachments.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform all necessary layout work & fully utilizing all functions of the machines & attachments to the highest degree of complexity to which the machines & attachments are, or may be, adapted for tools, jigs, & fixtures for production
  • Work to blueprints, sketches, design drawings, sample parts & other like information, oral orders, and to required tolerances
  • As required perform tool proving & training functions related to all non-turning & turning operations, both NC & manual machines, in production or Tool Room.

Position Requirements

  • Completion of 4 year apprenticeship or combination of 4 years’ experience as a Machinist, Tool & Die Maker or Machining Tool Operator.
  • Aerospace work experience preferred
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong mathematical aptitude
  • Skilled in Blueprint reading
  • Set-up and operate turning & non-turning machinery
  • Action oriented
  • Excellent communication skills
