General Liability Defense Paralegal

We are a leading mid-sized law firm dedicated to serving clients across various locations, including the tri-state area and Florida. We are seeking a seasoned General Liability Defense Paralegal to join our dynamic team. This role involves collaborating closely with attorneys to manage and execute legal defense strategies efficiently. With a focus on providing robust litigation support, this position requires a proactive and organized individual capable of handling complex cases in a fast-paced environment.

Salary: $60,000 to $80,000 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft routine court documents such as Notices of Appearances, Pro Hac Vice Motions, and Subpoenas.
  • Compile and draft legal documents for attorney use, including discovery responses and affidavits.
  • Manage processes involved in obtaining medical and educational records through subpoenas and vendor cooperation.
  • Prepare exhibits and other demonstrative evidence for court presentations.
  • Perform case law research to assist in formulating defense strategies using Lexis/Westlaw.
  • Organize and analyze medical and education records, documents, and exhibits for motions.
  • Assist in witness preparation for depositions and trials regarding general matters.
  • Conduct document reviews for relevance and privilege during discovery phases.
  • Categorize and analyze various reports, records, and data pertinent to the case.
  • Record billable hours accurately in alignment with firm policies.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in a litigation firm.
  • Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to follow up on tasks.
  • Capable of handling multiple time-sensitive assignments concurrently.
  • Proficient in Lexis/Westlaw, Microsoft Office Applications, and KOFAX Professional.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various attorneys on large, document-heavy cases.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in electronic court filings and systems (PACER, NYSCEF, e-law/e-track).
  • History of working in general liability litigation with a proven track record of successful case handling.
  • Advanced research skills using legal databases.
