About Wichita:
Wichita's Douglas Design District and Old Town entertainment area have transformed the city's core, with restaurants like Doo-Dah Diner, Newport Grill, and Il Vicino Wood Oven Pizza anchoring a surprisingly deep food scene. Median home prices hover around $240K (cost of living 14% below the national average), and the Maize and Goddard school districts carry top state rankings. The Keeper of the Plains -- a 44-foot steel sculpture at the confluence of the Big and Little Arkansas rivers -- anchors a riverwalk trail system, Sedgwick County Zoo is nationally ranked, and the College Hill neighborhood delivers walkable charm with bungalows under mature trees. Kansas City is 3 hours east on the turnpike.
