The General Accountant will assist the Assistant Controller in monthly close processes, making sure prepaid items are amortized appropriately, liabilities are properly recorded, and balance sheet accounts are reconciled.

Operating Company Activities

  • Reconciles various balance sheet accounts
  • Ensures accruals are properly recorded for services rendered and goods received for which there is no invoice on hand and reconciles detail to general ledger
  • Assist in preparing cash forecasts
  • Assist in preparing annual budgets
  • Calculate and recorded journal entries to facilitate month end close
  • Supports the documentation of internal controls in compliance with Section 404 of Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Prepares audit schedules and footnote disclosure details
  • Researches non-routine and unusual accounting transactions
  • Develop process improvements when opportunities arise


Minimum qualifications required to successfully perform the job:

  • An accounting or finance degree
  • CPA a plus
  • Fundamental knowledge of GAAP
  • Ability to read and understand complex debt instruments
  • 3+ years general ledge accounting with period end closing responsibilities
  • Thorough understanding of what constitutes a liability and when it needs to be recorded
  • Working knowledge of Great Plains accounting software a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
