Funeral Director
Location: Appleton, WI
Schedule: Onsite Full-Time
Pay: $28.85/hour (~$60K annually)

Position Overview
Our client is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Funeral Director to support families through the planning and execution of funeral and memorial services. This role manages the full funeral process—from initial consultation to service delivery—ensuring a seamless, respectful, and personalized experience while exceeding the expectations of client families and their guests.


Key Responsibilities

  • Consult with families or legal representatives to plan funeral and memorial services
  • Present service and merchandise options aligned with family preferences
  • Complete all required documentation including death certificates, permits, obituaries, and insurance forms
  • Coordinate service details with clergy, organizations, and participants
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct visitations and funeral services
  • Direct services to ensure professional and smooth execution
  • Prepare the deceased, including dressing and casketing
  • Set up visitation and service areas according to family wishes
  • Oversee transportation logistics and ensure timely coordination
  • Coordinate shipment of remains across locations when needed
  • Supervise team members participating in services
  • Maintain accurate records, contracts, and system entries
  • Assist with removals and transfers into care as needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience as a licensed Funeral Director
  • Active Funeral Director license in good standing
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office

Preferred Background

  • Experience in a high-touch, service-oriented environment
  • Bilingual communication skills are a plus
  • Experience supporting multi-service or high-volume locations
  • Comfortable engaging with community organizations to support business growth

Additional Details

  • No direct supervisory responsibilities
  • Combination of office and field-based work (indoor and outdoor environments)
  • Ability to lift up to 75–100 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • Exposure to chemicals and biohazards with proper safety protocols
  • Must be available to respond outside standard business hours
  • Approximately 10% local travel required
