JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Impulse, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Forklift Operator in Flint, MI. Our client is a leading provider in the housing industry, specializing in the production and distribution of building materials for residential and modular homes. The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe handling, movement, and storage of lumber, panels, and other construction materials throughout the warehouse and production areas.

Responsibilities of a Forklift Operator include:

  • Operating sit-down forklifts and other industrial vehicles to transport building materials

  • Loading and unloading flatbeds, trailers, and box trucks

  • Moving large pallets of construction materials such as lumber, drywall, siding, and insulation

  • Supplying production lines with materials and relocating finished goods to staging or shipping areas

  • Performing daily inspections of the forklift and reporting maintenance issues

  • Following safety protocols, including proper lifting techniques, PPE, and securing loads

  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization in work areas and material storage zones

  • Assisting with general labor or warehouse duties as needed

Job Requirements of a Forklift Operator:

  • Proficiency in operating forklifts in a warehouse or yard environment, including handling large or awkward loads

  • Ability to work in outdoor or semi-exposed environments in varying weather conditions

  • Physical ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs consistently

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Willingness to cross-train in other areas of material handling or general labor

  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic

REQUIRED Experience and Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Minimum 1 year of recent forklift experience, preferably in the construction, housing, or building materials industry

  • Valid forklift certification preferred (or ability to be certified on-site)
