About the Company:
Our client is a leading provider of material handling equipment, offering sales, rentals, service, maintenance, parts, and training for forklifts and industrial cleaning equipment throughout the Greater Toronto Area. They are currently seeking an experienced Forklift Field Service Technician to join their growing team.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on electric, propane, diesel, and gas-powered forklifts and material handling equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, steering, brake, drive train, and propane systems
- Diagnose equipment failures using diagnostic software, testing equipment, and service manuals
- Complete scheduled maintenance programs to minimize customer equipment downtime
- Repair and replace defective components, assemblies, and parts
- Conduct equipment safety inspections and ensure all repairs meet manufacturer and safety standards
- Accurately complete work orders, service reports, and maintenance documentation
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding equipment condition, required repairs, and maintenance recommendations
- Operate a company service vehicle while maintaining tools, equipment, and inventory
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all company safety policies and procedures
- Stay current with new forklift technologies, manufacturer updates, and industry best practices
Requirements:
- Previous experience repairing and servicing forklifts, material handling equipment, heavy equipment, construction equipment, or similar mobile machinery
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Experience diagnosing propane, diesel, gas, and electric-powered equipment is considered an asset
- Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Experience using diagnostic software and computerized service tools
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- 310S Automotive Service Technician, 421A Heavy Equipment Technician, 310T Truck & Coach Technician are considered an asset
- Previous experience working in a field service environment
- Experience servicing brands such as Toyota, Raymond, Yale, Hyster, CAT, Crown, Doosan, Mitsubishi, Komatsu, Nissan, or similar forklift manufacturers
- Valid Ontario G Driver's Licence with a clean driver's abstract
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various indoor and outdoor environments
- Own tools are considered an asset
