Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Fleet Manager for an asset-based waste management organization that provides hauling services within municipal, recycling, leachate and yard waste. In addition, the organization maintains wheels loaders, excavators and landfill tippers to support operations. With $ 110 million dollars in revenue, the company has 450 tractors, over 600 trailers and over 80 pieces of “yellow iron” operating within a 10-state region.
The Fleet Maintenance Manager is responsible for maintaining safe, reliable vehicles and equipment in a cost-efficient manner for all operating locations, enforcing and administering the Quality and Safety compliance rules and regulations, manage personnel conducting scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and ensuring all parts and mechanic times are accounted for and that work performed is properly described on repair orders. This position schedules and tracks job- related training and verifies the proper parts inventory is on hand through constant communication with the Parts manager.

Background Required:
  • Fleet maintenance (5 years)
  • Maintenance management (5 years)
  • ASE or Dealer certification (current, and annual continued education)
  • Established, executed, and adjusted preventive maintenance polices & procedures
  • Procurement, pricing & parts management (regional)
  • Equipment breakdown process (root cause investigation)
  • Vendor and supplier relationship management
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook
  • Asset Management Software (any platform)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Education: High School Degree
  • Residence: Indianapolis, IN
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • CDL (at least a class B)
  • Safety or OSHA certifications
  • Computerized maintenance management software training (CMMS)
  • Department of Transportation (DOT) inspector certified
  • Asset Management Software (Dossier)
  • “Yellow Iron” knowledge (Landfill Tippers, Tire Loaders, Excavators)
  • Education: Technical School Degree
