Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Executive Vice President of one of the nation’s best-known, well-respected provider of flatbed and heavy haul transportation services. With a fleet of more than 100 power units and 450+ trailers include lowboys, stretch floats, flatbeds, dry vans, and intermodal chassis, their specialized heavy haul equipment can accommodate loads more than 1,000,000 pounds. This diversity allows the organization to meet the total transportation needs of our customers.
The Fleet Maintenance Manager will be responsible for the maintenance management with a staff of approximately 10 technical and supportive staff. Maintain/oversee timely entry of repair orders, purchase orders, and invoices in TMT. Making recommendations for the acquisition and disposal of company equipment. Maintaining accurate and balanced inventories in the shops. Being available with Assistant Manager Fleet Maintenance for Road Calls 24 x 7. Overseeing the installation and removal of third-party equipment (i.e. Blackberry and PeopleNet) from power units and trailers. Ensuring the PM schedules for company equipment is performed as required by standards. Ensuring the state safety inspections, and other required inspections, are performed in accordance with standards. Performing quarterly inventory report. Purchasing fuel, lubricants, and other materials to support the shops. Work with operations managers and recommend assignment of power units and drivers.

Background Required:
  • Maintenance Operations and Management - Class 8 (min 5 years)
  • Firm knowledge of DOT compliance standards
  • Solid mechanical knowledge related to diesel engines, electrical, A/C, brakes, tires, and trailer/chassis
  • Knowledge of shop and OEM warranties
  • Knowledge of emissions systems and their maintenance
  • Knowledge of the transportation, trucking, freight industry at the commercial and government levels
  • Vendor relations and negotiations
  • Responsible for Equipment Breakdown Process
  • Maintenance, communications, diagnostic and GPS Software (ie: Truckmate, TMW, Omnitracs)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Experience with TMT Software package
  • State Safety Inspector Certification
  • Basic HAZMAT knowledge
  • CDL License
