Staff Accountant - Atlanta - Financial Services Industry

The Fund Accountant’s main responsibility will be to assist the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) and Senior Accountant (SA) with the day to day accounting operations for 5 domestic mutual funds, one foreign based mutual fund, a hedge fund and two private equity funds. All of which focus on structured credit.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Preparation of monthly shadow accounting schedule for review by CAO/SA
  • Assist in implementation of shadow accounting system
  • Assist CAO/SA with enhancing monthly NAV process
  • Daily reconciliation of trading activity and reconciliation of Bloomberg AIM to broker activity
  • Perform cash reconciliations for all accounts
  • Reconciliation of income accruals on portfolio positions and reconciliation to broker activity
  • Daily tracking of all payables and receivables
  • Expense tracking and preparation of expense payments for review
  • Preparation of monthly expense budgets for CAO review
  • Calculation and tracking of expense accruals
  • Assist in review of monthly administrator reporting package and NAV
  • Assist in monthly P&L reconciliation to administrator
  • Assist in the preparation of annual audit and tax deliverables
  • Assist in drafting and review of financial statements for annual audit
  • Assist in preparation of required Board Materials
  • Assist in various ad hoc projects with CAO/SA and other teams within the Company

Qualifications:

  • 0-2 years of industry experience with Big 4 experience a plus
  • Fund accounting experience a plus
  • Detail oriented and willing to work in a fast paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills a must
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Must be proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Experience with Axys, Geneva, Partner, HedgeTec, Investran or other fund accounting software strongly preferred
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred
