What you will be doing as the Financial Manager/Accounting Manager:

  • Directs, manages and is responsible for all financial and accounting functions associated with the assigned Company program areas
  • Create and maintain financial reporting systems providing straightforward information that assists in the operation of Company and as needed for HUD, Board of Commissioners, external stakeholders and CMHA management
  • Prepare full disclosure governmental enterprise financial statements including statement of net assets, statement of activities, statement of cash flow, any and all notes concerning the assigned Company programs
  • Create and continually monitor and update all Company operational budgets
  • Ensures industry standard best practices are implemented and maintained as they relate to assigned financial areas of responsibility
  • Ensure audit standards are met for assigned financial areas of responsibility
  • Assist in short term and long-term financial plans for Company and its instrumentalities
  • Identify and maintain the fixed asset inventory for the Authority
  • Assist in maintaining and reporting daily cash balances and cash projections for the Agency
  • Maintain the general ledger accounts and all subsidiary ledgers for assigned financial areas of responsibility
  • Manage and maintain regular and routine reconciliation of all accounts associated with the assigned financial areas of responsibility
  • Supervise and direct the work of staff including but not limited to monitoring for efficiency, accuracy and accountability
  • Select, interview and hire at the direction of the Director of Accounting

What you will need as the Financial Manager/Accounting Manager:

  • Bachelors in accounting, finance, or business administration with emphasis on accounting/finance
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience, with five (5) years in professional financial management position involving staff management and overall accounting responsibility for a large, complex organization
  • Professional demeanor with concern for strong financial integrity
  • Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail
  • Great team player demonstrating patience, persistence and leadership
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and demonstrated success in high paced environment
  • Extensive experience in preparing financial projections, pro forma and related analysis
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and demonstrated experience working with budgeting concepts
  • Demonstrated ability to develop procedures and practices for increased efficiency while maintaining overall accuracy and improving productivity among staff
  • Demonstrated experience, comfort and skill in organizing and presenting financial information in understandable format
  • Demonstrated experience working with financial software applications and Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience in public sector fiscal and budgeting environment
  • Experience working within Public Housing and/or affordable housing industry
  • Work with private entities in real estate and/or development partnerships
  • Demonstrated history of successful interaction and involvement with community-based organizations involving persons of low income.
