Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Glendale have an exciting new opportunity for a Financial Controller. The successful incumbent will oversee all financial and administrative activities within the department. The Financial Controller will develop procedures to monitor and approve all expenditures and to make certain that funds are used appropriately. They will ensure compliance with internal controls, management regulations and accounting principles. The Financial Controller will also prepare, monitor and deliver weekly cash reports, financial forecasts and annual budgets for approval

Essential Responsibilities

  • Responsible for management & deliverables for the Finance Department
  • Assess, deliver & monitor the annual business plan & associated forecasts
  • Ensure that financial controls are developed & maintained
  • Advise & report to Senior Management the financial results & key indicators
  • Develop staff with cross functional capability
  • Adhere to corporate reporting requirements
  • Authorize expenditures and payment signatory
  • Support the preparation of the strategic plan
  • Lead department in Continuous Improvement initiatives and cost reduction
  • Provide advice, direction or deal with other business stakeholders
  • Travel (possibly) 1-3 times annually
  • Ensure accuracy, quality & promptness of financial reporting, analytical services & administration services provide by the Finance Department
  • Manage, motivate & develop staff
  • Assure compliance with management regulations & internal controls
  • Effectively coordinate several financial audits
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives & reduce controllable costs

Position Requirements

  • College Degree (MBA preferable) and Professional license/certification
  • 5 - 10 years of work experience
  • Experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage workload and team deadlines
  • Willing to work longer hours during peak periods
  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to work with lookups and pivot tables
  • Excellent people-management skills (3 direct reports)
  • Self-motivated to learn new concepts
  • Leadership, coaching & motivation skills
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills
  • Must possess the ability to work with confidential information; wages, costs, financial statements, customer relations on prices etc., company programs, etc.
