Financial Controller

Position Overview

Carolina PRG has partnered with a multi-billion-dollar global manufacturing organization seeking a Financial Controller to lead the accounting and financial reporting activities for a business segment generating more than $500 million in annual revenue. This highly visible leadership role partners closely with Plant Operations, Supply Chain, FP&A, and executive leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and drive operational performance.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader with a strong manufacturing background who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys building high-performing teams while driving continuous process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all accounting and financial reporting activities for a $500M+ business segment, ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results.
  • Lead the preparation and consolidation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple entities in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Partner with Operations, Plant Leadership, Supply Chain, and FP&A to analyze financial performance, improve profitability, and support strategic decision-making.
  • Oversee manufacturing accounting, including inventory, cost accounting, standard costing, inventory reserves, and production variance analysis.
  • Lead the annual audit process and coordinate with both internal and external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with USA tax laws, corporate tax filings, and other statutory requirements for each entity.
  • Evaluate accounting processes and implement automation, system enhancements, and process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support capital investment initiatives by overseeing fixed asset accounting, depreciation, and capital project reporting.
  • Partner with corporate accounting and shared services teams to ensure consistency across accounting practices and financial reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA or other certification strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership responsibility.
  • Manufacturing industry experience required.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and SOX compliance.
  • Experience overseeing month-end close within a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience with US GAAP, IFRS, and tax laws, with deep knowledge of accounting systems and ERP solutions.
  • Experience in handling international financial reporting, compliance, and managing cross-border financial operations is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory accounting, standard costing, and manufacturing operations.
  • ERP experience (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, JD Edwards, or similar).

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting a business segment with $250M+ in revenue.
  • Multi-site manufacturing experience.
  • Experience leading finance transformation or ERP implementations.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with Lean or Six Sigma exposure.
