Position: Financial Analyst (level 2) - JP1280

Duration: 1 year (potential extension)

Location: Ontario (Full Time Remote)

Role Responsibilities:

  • Prepare investment fund financial statements
  • Articulate period over period variances combined with analysis on associated investment category (e.g. Canadian Equity, Global Bond, etc.)
  • Work independently with external auditors on assigned tasks for audited financial statements
  • Detect errors, omissions and inconsistencies in data
  • Train and guide co-op student(s) to produce deliverables for financial statements such as statement of investment portfolio (SIP)
  • Participate in annual audit close meeting to suggest areas of improvement to implement next period
  • Prepare journal entries including qualitative and quantitative backup
  • Collaborate with people inside and outside organization to seek out efficiencies
  • Participate in the investment division projects as a subject matter expert on financial reporting
  • Remain current on IFRS, IFIC, NI-8106 and CLHIA G2
  • Cross-train responsibilities with other team members to act as backup
  • Act and speak as a subject matter expert on assigned tasks and readily explain key controls
  • Respond to inquiries received to the team's general email inbox
  • Quarterly review existing process documentation and make updates


  • IFRS (Accounting policy, Fair value, Disclosure of interests in other entities, Financial instruments)
  • Degree or diploma in finance, accounting or related field
  • 4+ years’ work experience preparing audited financial statements or investment fund operations
  • Strong performer with track record of implementing controls and efficiencies
  • Project management or significant contributor on projects
  • Experience writing technical papers such as accounting policy and/or work flow diagrams

  • Complete tasks ahead of schedule with a sense of urgency
  • Able to work overtime during peak periods
