Our client in the Insurance Sector is seeking to onboard a Financial Accountant for a three months period for their Port of Spain office.

Salary Range: $15K-$20K



Job Summary:
Assists in managing and executing all aspects of financial accounting and reporting, regulatory reporting and record keeping of the Finance Department.

Job duties:
  1. Provide prompt and quality Customer Service by projecting and demonstrating a high level of professionalism, courtesy and initiative in accordance with established guidelines and policies.
  2. Preparation of monthly reports for the Board ensuring that all transactions are accurately accounted for, and all accounts are reconciled in a timely manner.
  3. Reports on actual expenses incurred compared to budget, providing explanations for variances; produces similar analyses for income items and balance sheet movements.
  4. Assist with the consolidation of accounts.
  5. Maintenance and reconciliation of fixed assets, intangibles, right of use assets register and calculates monthly depreciation charge by category.
  6. Preparation of Statutory Reports.
  7. Preparation of audit schedules and Financial Statements for planning, interim and final stages each year for external audit.
  8. Assist department in the creation and development of financial models to improve efficiency.
  9. Assist in annual budget preparation.
  10. Where necessary, check cash and perform regular checks of the cash and petty cash floats.
  11. Conducts any other tasks or projects as requested by the Finance Manager and Chief Financial Officer

Job Qualifications:
  • ACCA qualified, or any related field

Training:
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements
  • Intermediate/advanced level experience in MS Excel
  • Working knowledge of Other Microsoft Office Suite Tools
Job Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience
  • Managerial or Supervisory experience an asset
  • Insurance Industry experience an asset
