Finance Director sought by a uniquely important non-profit agency in Canton, Ohio, a stand-alone agency that is one of a national network of agencies that supports the needs of the disadvantaged in a county-wide service area. Opportunity for the right person to manage this key accounting role for the agency. This agency has developed a reputation for responsible administrative leadership, and has built a reputation for competence at the state and federal level as well. Seeking someone experienced in overseeing and leading the financial obligations of a non-profit agency, and familiarity with the governmental accounting systems. - Pay range $95,500 to $110,000 (Based on experience.)
The Role of the Finance Director:
- Report directly to CEO with regular Board and Finance Committee interface.
- Direct and manage the daily operation of the Finance Department, including payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable supervision, training and evaluating of staff.
- Ensure organizational financial effectiveness through strategic planning, risk management, self-assessment and systems integration.
- Oversee and assure established fiscal controls adhered to by staff, including responsibility for financial records, documents and records safety and integrity.
- Functional knowledge of Grantor rules, regulations and fiscal requirements to assure organizational compliance.
- Develop and manage agency budget along with Chief Executive Officer, and program budgets in concert with Program Directors.
- Liaison to the Governing Board Finance Committee, including maintenance of agendas and minutes.
- Ensure financial requirements met for all grants; maintain the agency's grant files.
- Liaison to IT contractor.
- Analyze organizational insurance requirements and needs for cost effectiveness and assurance of coverage.
- Manage the annual audit processes with external auditors.
Background Profile of Finance Director:
- 7-10 years of experience (or more) in accounting, strongly prefer knowledge of non-profit, public or governmental accounting functions
- Managerial experience with collaborative leading, utilizing staff knowledge of the agency's financial norms to improve organizational financial effectiveness
- Multi-funded grant operations expertise
- Accounting software knowledge
- Analytical skill including effective use of Excel
- Knowledge of Federal and state regulations
- Communication ability, both verbal and written
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Management minimum, CPA preferred
