The Finance Controller will be responsible for overseeing the company’s financial management, accounting systems, statutory compliance, and financial reporting as the company continues to scale its exploration and operational activities.
The role combines core controller responsibilities with hands-on coordination across finance, corporate administration, and selected operational support functions, and serves as a key local interface with external professional advisors.

The Finance Controller will be responsible for overseeing the company’s financial management, accounting systems, statutory compliance, and financial reporting as the company continues to scale its exploration and operational activities.

Responsibilities
Financial Management & Accounting
- Overall responsibility for the company’s accounting records, general ledger, and internal financial controls.
- Preparation of monthly management accounts, cash flow reports, and variance analysis.
- Budgeting and forecasting in coordination with operational management.
- Oversight of payroll processing, statutory deductions, and employee-related payments.
- Review and processing of vendor payments and expense claims in accordance with approved controls.
- Primary local point of coordination for annual financial audits.
- Liaison with external auditors and accountants to support timely completion of audits and statutory filings.
- Preparation of audit schedules, supporting documentation, and management responses.
- Support consolidated reporting and information requests from Altair Australia, as required.
- Management of local banking relationships and day-to-day treasury activities.
- Oversight of payment processes, approval workflows, and cash controls.
- Coordination of cross-border payments and foreign exchange matters with head office.
- Support the establishment and maintenance of bank accounts and authorized signatory structures.
- Coordination of routine corporate filings and statutory returns with local external advisors, including Companies Registry and related filings.
- Support work permit applications, renewals, and employment-related documentation, working closely with external legal advisors such as Luckhoo & Luckhoo.
- Preparation and drafting of routine corporate correspondence and regulatory submissions, as required.
- Act as the internal point of contact for corporate, regulatory, and compliance-related information requests.
- Work closely with the Operations team to ensure procurement, logistics, and inventory costs are properly reviewed, approved, and recorded.
- Provide financial oversight and reporting support for procurement and logistics activities.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining cost control and reporting systems for camp operations, field logistics, and inventory.
- Support operational teams with financial analysis and documentation as needed.
- Minimum 10–15 years’ experience in finance and accounting roles, preferably within Guyana.
- Strong working knowledge of local accounting standards, tax, and statutory requirements.
- Experience coordinating audits and working with external professional advisors.
- High level of integrity, discretion, and attention to detail.
- Comfortable operating in a small, growing organization with evolving systems and processes.
- Trusted, reliable, and methodical.
- Able to work independently while collaborating closely with operational and management teams.
- Practical, solutions-oriented approach with strong organizational skills
