ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Polestar is looking for candidates to fill a Field Technician 1 position to work as part of a team providing configuration management and lockout tagout services to a variety of active and inactive manufacturing facilities and laboratories. The team provides field support to the facility operations, engineering and maintenance organizations to establish the facility as built condition, develop configuration management baselines and develop specific lockout tagout instructions for individual facility components.
This position is an entry-level position and will perform work activities under the direction of a senior team member. Specific activities to be performed include:
• Participate in walkdowns of manufacturing/laboratory facilities. Walkdowns will require use of a variety of personal protective equipment.
• Use facility drawings to identify components on drawings, locate components during field walkdowns and ensure proper component identification.
• Support drawing revisions with as found conditions.
• Perform relatively routine activities and tasks related to area of focus in accordance with applicable codes, standards and procedures under supervision.
• Use collected data to provide input to the master equipment list.
• Provide support to update and maintain master equipment list in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Draft lockout/tagout instructions for identified components per the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Hazardous Energy Control standard and facility procedures for review.
• Incorporate comments and prepare for final approval.
WORK LOCATION:
Work will be performed at the client site.
EDUCATION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• High school diploma. AA degree in a technical field is desirable.
• 0-7 years post-high school working experience.
• Basic knowledge of facility operations and maintenance.
• Basic understanding of facility structures, systems and components.
• Be able to read and interpret drawings.
• Computer proficiency (word processing and spreadsheet software).
• Basic analytical and problem solving skills.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Meet deadlines and complete assigned tasks.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to read, understand and follow procedures.
• Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check, including verification of employment and education.
• Must be a United States citizen.
DESIRED SKILLS:
• A basic knowledge and understanding of general manufacturing or laboratory processes.
• Experience with the control of hazardous energy (Lockout/Tagout) program.
