The Field Service Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing laboratory instrumentation at customer sites. This role supports clinical and research environments by ensuring instruments operate reliably and in compliance with quality and regulatory standards. The position requires regional travel, primarily within the Eastern U.S.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, and qualify laboratory instrumentation

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, calibrations, and repairs

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, fluidic, and software issues

  • Provide user training and serve as the primary technical contact for customers

  • Document service activities and support quality and validation requirements (IQ/OQ/PQ)

  • Manage tools, spare parts, scheduling, and service priorities within the assigned territory

  • Collaborate with engineering, applications, and technical support teams

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, biotechnology, or a related technical field preferred

  • Experience or familiarity with laboratory instrumentation or automation

  • Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and fluidic systems

  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer-facing skills

  • Ability to travel, lift up to 60 lbs, and work independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in regulated environments (clinical labs, IVD, GMP, ISO)

  • Exposure to molecular biology workflows (PCR/qPCR, liquid handling, automation)

  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed

  • Preferred Location- Irvine- CA
