Position Title: Sales Manager

The Opportunity:

This is a highly visible leadership opportunity to step into a critical role within a growing, family-owned packaging organization that is actively investing in people, technology, and expansion. The Sales Manager will have a direct and immediate impact on revenue growth by reenergizing an experienced but under-managed sales team, shifting behavior from account maintenance to proactive prospecting, and building a disciplined, measurable sales pipeline.

With the current sales leader balancing both operations and sales responsibilities, this role fills a long-standing gap and offers the chance to establish structure, accountability, and coaching where it has been missing. The individual who succeeds in this role will influence sales culture, unlock dormant growth within existing territories, and help the organization fully leverage its broad capabilities in graphic packaging and packaging supplies. This is an opportunity to lead, not inherit, the sales agenda.

The Company:

The company is a well-established, family-owned provider of packaging solutions, displays, and supply chain services with a long history in the industry. It blends entrepreneurial decision-making with the scale and resources of a national organization. Through sustained organic growth and strategic acquisitions, the business has evolved into a fully integrated packaging platform that includes corrugated manufacturing, graphic packaging, retail displays, design, fulfillment, and packaging supplies—everything in, on, and around the box.

The organization operates a broad North American footprint, with multiple manufacturing and fulfillment facilities supporting this role. It continues to invest heavily in advanced equipment, digital printing, automation, and sustainability initiatives, while maintaining a people-centric, performance-driven culture. The company is known for long-term customer partnerships, selective hiring, and creating career paths for leaders who want to grow with the business.

The Boss:

This role reports to the local sales and operations leader who currently oversees both functions. The position also works closely with regional leadership responsible for multiple facilities. Senior leadership is aligned on the need for this role and fully supports adding a hands-on Sales Manager to strengthen execution, coaching, and growth initiatives across the territory.

The Position:

The Sales Manager will lead a team of approximately six experienced sales representatives, most of whom are based in the Louisville market and manage significant books of business across Kentucky, Southern Indiana, and nearby regions. The team is service-oriented and customer-loyal, with a strong foundation but limited focus on active prospecting.

This is a field-facing leadership role designed for someone who enjoys being present with their team—conducting joint calls, coaching in real time, setting expectations, and driving consistent activity. The Sales Manager will also take ownership of company initiatives related to new customer development and the expansion of packaging supply offerings alongside corrugated solutions.

Essential Functions (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Lead, coach, and hold accountable a team of experienced sales representatives
  • Drive prospecting activity and the development of a visible, credible sales pipeline
  • Re-engage tenured sales reps through goal-setting, activity tracking, and performance measurement
  • Provide hands-on mentoring to less experienced sales team members, including joint sales calls
  • Champion corporate initiatives focused on new customer acquisition and growth
  • Expand sales of packaging supplies and ancillary products in addition to corrugated packaging
  • Serve as a visible, accessible field leader supporting both sales and operational alignment
  • Collaborate closely with manufacturing and operations leadership to align customer opportunities with plant capabilities

Qualifications:

  • Proven success in corrugated packaging sales
  • Strong background in graphic packaging and printed corrugated products
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead experienced sales professionals
  • Comfort operating in a field-based, hands-on leadership role
  • Ability to balance relationship management with new business development

Education and Experience:

  • Significant experience in corrugated packaging sales
  • Prior sales leadership experience or a clear progression toward a management role
  • Experience working with mature territories and large, established customer accounts

Competencies:

  • Sales leadership and coaching
  • Prospecting and pipeline development
  • Relationship building and credibility with seasoned professionals
  • Accountability and performance management
  • Strategic thinking paired with practical execution
  • Cultural alignment, curiosity, and positive energy

Work Environment:

  • Field-based role centered in the Louisville market
  • Regular interaction with regional manufacturing operations and leadership
  • Travel throughout Kentucky, Southern Indiana, and surrounding markets as required

Compensation:

  • Competitive and aligned with leadership-level sales roles within the organization
