Position Title: Field Engineer

Location: Chicago, IL

Basic Purpose and Objective

Support business development in the assigned regions and territory as a Field Engineer. Spend a significant portion of time in the field and at the

customers’ manufacturing facilities and other sites. Build customer strong relationships through effective use of technical knowledge and excellent communication skills.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead demonstrations and tool trials at existing or potential new Customers.
  • Understand Customer’s technical and commercial needs and make strategies to meet their requirements. This work can be together with Distributor Sales
  • Engineer or independently.
  • Obtain information about Customer requirements for RFQs and develop technical proposals and/or alternative proposals accordingly.
  • Lead installation, pre-programming, pilot programming and debugging, and final launch sign-off confirmation with Customers at their manufacturing sites.
  • Post installation troubleshooting and debugging, as needed.
  • Maintain ongoing, good relationships with Customers.
  • Field Engineers must be skilled at managing any kind of technical work in the field with minimal on-site supervision.
  • Field Engineers must possess the ability to diagnose, create, and implement solutions to resolve problems with existing equipment.
  • Field Engineers must be able to interpret, explain, and report technical issues using information as provided by customers. Customers often relay information using inaccurate or non-technical terminology. Field engineers must translate the information provided by the customer and report using industry standard, and internal terminology.
  • Field Engineers must possess the ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written, with customers as well as possess good customer service skills.
  • Field Engineers must have knowledge regarding torque as well as PLC communication protocols.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Entry-level or mid-level candidates will be considered for this position.
  • Motivated candidates with 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or other technical discipline.
