Job Description
A Fabrication Team Member is responsible for the timely and accurate completion of all fabrications. Additional responsibilities include, but not limited to, the maintenance, calibration, and repair of all machines and measurement devices in the Fabrication Dept.
Duties and responsibilities
- Follow SPA established safety guidelines and all regulated company policies and wear steel-toed boots and SPA shirts whenever they are working on the plant floor.
- Must be capable of reading and understanding detailed blueprints related to custom built systems.
- Identify all related raw materials per print and organize accordingly to build schedule. Gather tools and miscellaneous items required for processing work though the Fabrication area.
- Must have strong Mig welding experience with mild steel plate and tube stock. Stainless, Aluminum & Tig welding experience is a plus.
- Willingness to possess a welding certificate. (Certified Welder) possible recertification every 3 to 5 years.
- Maintain an organized system of detail including the assembly prints on the plant floor.
- Strong focus on quality and continuous improvement activities.
- Efficiently process all work that is released to the fabrication department while maintaining safety and quality.
- Responsible for the organization and cleanliness of the fabrication dept.
- Ensure daily time tickets and the E-Time system is filled out correctly and turned in at the end of each shift.
- Maintain and do light repairs of all equipment in the Fabrication areas, including participation in the preventative maintenance program.
- Attend all pertinent meetings regarding the fabrication department and management meetings.
- Offer support to Team Leader in all aspects of organization, safety and quality assurance.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Valid driver’s licenses.
- Possess advanced blueprint reading abilities.
- Possess welding skills – Minimum of 8 years of experience. (Certified Preferred).
- Must have the ability and willingness to learn from and train other employees.
- Develop fixtures for all standard parts to improve efficiencies, quality & safety.
- Report quality and safety concerns and or issues to team leader in a timely manner.
- Pleasant disposition and ability to work with others, a must.
- An ability to work with fellow employees and in other departments and communicate issues in a professional manner.

- Willingness to work odd hours and adaptable to a flexible shift like second or third shift as needed.
- Ability to travel should the need arise to address fabrication issues at customer’s facility.
- Must have knowledge and ability to operate all equipment and machines in the Fabrication Dept.
- Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to housekeeping, trash removal, hi-lo driving and overhead crane operation.
Working conditions
Manufacturing setting where there are low to moderate noise levels, dust and smoke. Duties may require the occasional use of/contact with/exposure to various hazardous materials (such as, but not limited to grease, oils, lubricants, paint, thinner, parts cleaner, etc.). Employees should have basic awareness of hazardous materials cautions. Those directly using the materials must have specific knowledge of material in use.
Physical requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee may be required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision and depth perception. May at times be required to bend, twist and work under machinery or at heights using lift equipment and or ladders.
