SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE:
This position is responsible for managing the fabrication area to ensure delivery of a high quality product through staff effectiveness and performance to stated goals.

EDUCATION & JOB EXPERIENCE NEEDED:

  • BS/BA in Technical/Business or equivalent work experience
  • 4 years related experience

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Principally responsible for staff utilization, proficiency and development, expense management, technical leadership, and proper utilization of equipment.
  2. Ensure personnel receive proper training to achieve productivity levels, turnaround times, and appropriate quality levels.
  3. Perform process audits utilizing work instructions, procedures, and other related documents which enforce strict adherence to established customer and regulatory requirements.
  4. Monitor production process and recommend improvement processes when needed.
  5. Monitor expenses and capacity in relation to the annual budget.
  6. Assist with selection of equipment and the justification of capital investments.
  7. Ensure a healthful and safe work environment in accordance with the company safety program.
  8. Troubleshoot corrective action reports and respond to quality department on final outcome.
  9. Interface with sales and quality department to achieve delivery of product on schedule and to the requested level of quality.
  10. Report daily to production manager on any issues within the fabrication department.
  11. Coordinate with other managers or supervisors concerning scrap issues and utility personnel.
  12. Coordinate equipment maintenance for their area of responsibility. Supervise maintenance staff assigned to the fabrication department.
  13. May visit clients to assist with production issues or strategize about new processes.
  14. Provide operational updates in staff meetings.
  15. Ensure conformance to Quality and Environmental Management Systems, reviewing and updating as needed, while striving to continually improve stated objectives within your area.
  16. Ability to complete an assigned task in a safe manner and in a constant state of alertness and must understand and follow all safety and quality rules and procedures.
  17. Must be able to work in a cooperative manner with craft workers, laborers, subcontractors, co-workers, supervisors, and others on the jobsite and in the office.
  18. Must be able to follow company policies and procedures.
  19. Other job duties as assigned.
