Experienced Tax Accountant will join the firm locally as a key tax specialist for the firm's tax services, taking over a sizable book of business for an exiting partner. A client-relationship oriented tax professional with a regional or national firm will join this multiple-office top 200 southeast CPA firm, and if desired, can achieve Principal status in a short period of time.

This role provides an experienced tax professional from a regional or national firm an early chance to demonstrate specialized tax capability, with an excellent opportunity for an attractive compensation package. Success Profile of a Senior Tax Manager:

• Top 100 or national level firm experience
• CPA firm experience in the 5–15-year range
• Broad industry experience, or specialized in more than one of these industries serviced:
+ Citrus, Trucking, Nonprofit
• Ideally some life history - lived, worked, educated - in Lakeland or Polk County area
• High learning agility
• Very relational – both internally and externally

Expectations of a Tax Manager:

  • Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and international tax laws and regulations. This includes significant review of tax returns, such as income, sales, use, and property taxes, for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities.
  • Tax Planning and Strategy: Develop tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize cash flow for clients or the organization. This involves significant client communications, advising on the tax implications of business decisions, mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate strategies.
  • Tax Advisory Services: Provide advisory services on matters such as tax-efficient restructuring, tax credits and incentives, and international tax strategies. Offer guidance on tax implications of various business transactions and personal finance decisions.
  • Research and Documentation: Conduct detailed tax research to support tax compliance and strategy decisions. Document and justify tax positions, ensuring adherence to tax laws and regulations.
  • General Ledger Accounting: Perform complex reconciliations and write-ups of the general ledger, including identifying and resolving discrepancies while providing guidance and support to junior staff members.
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports for tax purposes. This includes adjusting financial statements for tax purposes, calculating tax provisions, and assisting with quarterly and year-end tax accruals.
  • Training and Mentorship: Mentor junior staff members, providing guidance, training, and support to help them develop their skills and grow professionally.
  • Client Interaction and Management: Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding not only their tax needs, but their financial and growth goals.
