Location
Our client is in Huntington Station, New York. Their practice is on the North Shore and Central of Long Island with easy access to the area's beautiful beaches.
Huntington Station is one of the best places to live in New York for its sparse suburban feel and highly rated schools. You can also take a quick trip by car or train
to Manhattan or Connecticut. Huntington is a suburban area that has a historical feel, but also has a lot of shopping, entertainment, and parks too.
Practice Overview
Our client is a small, privately owned avian and exotic practice. They do not see dogs or cats, so everything about them is specialized. They provide primary care of
companion exotic pets as well as handle referrals from other local veterinary practices too. Their facility houses state-of-the-art equipment including digital x-ray,
ultrasound, endoscopy, and has a fully functional surgical suite with Doppler, EKG and a Bair Hugger. Their practice offers an abundance of services, including but
not limited to, wellness and behavior, urgent and emergency care, intensive care, diagnostic imaging, lab testing, laser therapy, DNA sex testing, and full-service grooming.

What You’ll Be Working On
- Build and maintain lasting client relationships
- Diagnose, treat, and manage a variety of avian and companion exotic cases
- Perform general wellness exams and surgeries
- Maintain a high level of client communication and patient care
- Guide and utilize exceptional support staff
- Maintain a positive work environment and promote teamwork
Qualifications
- Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from an accredited school required
- Licensed or able to become licensed in the state of New York required
- 3 years of experience with avian and exotics is preferred but able to mentor
- Medical and surgical experience with avian and exotic companion animals but willing to mentor the right candidate
- Experience in rabbit spays/neuters and surgeries; rabbit and rodent dental is preferred
- Requires venipuncture skills for avian species or ability to learn for avian species
- Ability to interpret radiographs or learn to interpret radiographs of all exotic and avian species
- Orthopedic interest is a plus!
- Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity
- Highly motivated with a desire to learn and grow
- Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
