Shepherd Staff is honored to be working with Emmaus Church in Buford, GA as they search for their next Executive Pastor of Ministries. Emmaus Church is a vibrant community of 800-900 attending weekly who are dedicated to fostering spiritual growth, outreach, and meaningful connections among its members.
Position Description
The Executive Pastor of Ministries will oversee the church’s various ministries, ensuring alignment with the church’s mission and vision. This role involves strategic planning, leadership development, and fostering a culture of collaboration and service within the church.
The ideal candidate will be:
- Has a proven experience and ability to lead, manage, and empower a larger staff
- Possess an entrepreneurial spirit (someone who can see what should be and could be)
- Be a highly relational shepherd
- Be a self-starter and proactive leader
- Be a team player who is trustworthy, loyal, and all-in
- Protect the current sense of family and collaboration within the staff team
Position Overview
The Executive Pastor of Ministries is one who is gifted and is called to ministry within the local church, loves people, and has a passion for evangelism, discipleship, outreach, and missions both personally and at the ministry level within a multi-generational congregation setting. He has a passion for the Word of God and desire to proclaim the Word of God with conviction and confidence, always moving the congregation towards taking consistent spiritual steps. He also has a deep passion for leadership and development within the context of the local church, seeking to shepherd, develop, and equip those under his care. The Executive Pastor of Ministries will report to the Lead Pastor.
Responsibilities
- Steward the execution of Emmaus Church’s mission and vision, as given by the Scriptures and applied by the Lead Pastor and the Elder Board to this local church body
- Fulfill the role of “Chief People Officer” to our staff
- Serve as a shepherd, developer, and equipper to the staff, providing spiritual oversight, care, and counsel
- Responsible for staff performance management, providing accountability and care through individual goals management, strategic planning, reviews, etc.
- Responsible for creating and growing structures for leadership development within our membership
- Periodically preach during Sunday gatherings, and provide counseling to those in our church as needs arise
