About the Role:
This is a two-year commitment with the possibility of renewal.
Location: Liberia (Hybrid work model)

Role dynamics: Mission-driven, impact-focused, and high-profile leadership role
Leadership & Management:
- Overseeing quality implementation of all aspects of the Center’s diverse portfolio, most urgently: ensuring the integration of and overseeing the implementation of the Center’s Strategic Plan, the strategy of the Amujae 2.0, the Center’s inaugural flagship program; support the Board to implement the recommendations from the Board Review, progressing the design and development of the Presidential Museum and Library; and ensuring the timely launch of the capital campaign.
- Leading, managing, and supporting the Center’s senior team to deliver on the Center’s objectives and, as appropriate, helping recruit and hire additional staff.
- Ensuring effective systems to track progress, and regularly evaluate program components, so as to measure successes and challenges that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and other constituents.
- Developing clear timelines and workplans to achieve the Centers strategic goals.
- Leading external engagements.
- Liaising with the Founder and Board Chair to ensure alignment on priorities and key decisions; maintaining strong communications with the Board of Directors to assure Board involvement with strategic direction and risks; serving as the primary interlocutor between the Board, the staff, and other stakeholders.
- Supporting fundraising activities and proposals in support of Center strategy.
- Ensuring continued momentum toward launching the capital campaign, management of consultancy firms and advisors, and coordination with Center staff and stakeholders.
- Supervising all aspects of communications—from web presence to external relations— with the goal of creating a strong and cohesive brand and understanding of the Center’s work and progressing the Center’s mission.
- In coordination with the Founder & Board Chair, ensure the Center is strategically and professionally represented in all fundraising contexts.
- Support the Founder and Board Chair on external relationships to enhance visibility for the Center and ensure that the Center builds bridges with strategic and funding partners.
- Working with the COO, ensure that the flow of funds permits the Center to make continuous progress towards the achievement of its mission and that those funds are allocated properly to reflect present needs and future potential.
- Working with COO, ensure good policies of practice are in place and being implemented
- Develop regular communication with the Foundation to request/report on Foundation managed resources.
- Oversee the preparation of budgets.
- Oversee accountability and performance management systems for the Center’s staff.
Qualifications
The Executive Director must demonstrate a deep commitment to the Center’s mission and possess a proven track record in leadership, coaching, and relationship management. Specific qualifications include:
- Organizational Management: Excellence in managing organizations, with the ability to coach staff, develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage budgets effectively.
- Senior Management Experience: At least 10 years in senior management roles, with a track record of leading and scaling performance- and outcomes-based organizations regionally; proven ability to develop and operationalize strategies that drive organizational growth.
- Program Development: Experience in designing high-quality, comprehensive programs and ensuring data-driven program management and evaluation.
- Fiscal Management: Demonstrated expertise in financial oversight, reporting, and forecasting, ensuring sound fiscal health.
- Leadership Knowledge: Extensive understanding of high-level public leadership across sub-Saharan Africa.
- Board Engagement: Past success in working with Boards of Directors and cultivating strong relationships with board members.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities; persuasive, passionate, and skilled in interpersonal and multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Strategic and Innovative Approach: Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and capable of innovative business planning.
- Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively with diverse groups, fostering a spirit of inclusivity and teamwork.
- Advocacy and Representation: Proficient in liaising between the Center and government agencies, advocating for the Center’s interests, and enhancing its profile within Africa and globally.
- Personal Attributes: Passionate, idealistic, with integrity, a positive attitude, and a mission-driven, self-directed approach.
- Language Skills: Bilingual proficiency in French and English is highly advantageous.
