Executive Compensation & Employee Benefits Partner

An AmLaw200 firm is actively seeking a seasoned Partner in Executive Compensation and Employee Benefits to join our dynamic legal team. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to work within a renowned firm, serving our Florida offices. With a focus on exemplary client services and high-performance standards, this position is ideal for a proactive and diligent attorney who is keen on making a significant impact in executive compensatory consulting and employee benefits management.

Salary: DOE per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal consulting on executive compensation plans, including but not limited to deferred compensation, equity-based awards, and incentive compensation.
  • Advise on the design and administration of qualified and non-qualified employee benefit plans such as 401(k) plans, ESOPs, profit-sharing, and health and welfare plans.
  • Handle compliance and procedural oversight for all related legal matters to ensure adherence to federal and state regulations.
  • Negotiate and draft complex agreements and plan documents.
  • Represent and support clients in IRS and DOL audits involving plan qualifications and fiduciary issues.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships through excellent service and communication.
  • Foster a collaborative environment by working closely with colleagues across multiple offices to share expertise and insights.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • At least 8 years of experience in a law firm handling executive compensation and employee benefits.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with defined benefit and defined contribution plans, including 401(k) and profit-sharing plans.
  • Excellent drafting and verbal communication skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships and work effectively under deadlines.
  • Current membership or eligibility for the Florida Bar.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Portable book of business.
  • Experience representing clients on matters before federal agencies including IRS and DOL.
  • Advanced degree (LL.M.) in Taxation or a related field.
  • Documented history of business development and a robust professional network in the legal field.
  • Leadership experience or roles in previous legal positions.
