Events Manager Job Description

Marcilly Recruitment’s client, an international animal charity, is seeking an Events Manager to run their annual event calendar and bring fresh ideas to the table. You will be part of a lovely team with an all hands on deck approach. The successful Events Manager will be responsible for liaising with and building relationships with UHNWs, high-profile people, luxury brands and other corporates who support the cause.

They are seeking a highly organised, creative and outgoing candidate who is not only very strong with programme management, but also good at building an instant rapport with internal and external stakeholders.

Hybrid working is offered in this role. With Tuesday and Wednesday being the two compulsory days in the office. They are ideally looking for someone to work full-time five days a week. However, they would also be open to an Events Manager seeking a four day a week role. They have a lovely office culture with fantastic longevity demonstrated across the firm.

Role: Events Manager

Reporting to: Head of Fundraising

Salary: £35K - £45K depending on experience – for £45K the candidate must have four years as an Events Manager

Benefits: pension, cycle to work scheme, hybrid working, ½ day Fridays in August & December + 25 days holiday

Hours: 09:00 – 17:30

The client has said they would also be open to a candidate who is coming from an EA background as long as they have organised at least 1-2 large scale events a year from start to finish with other events dotted throughout the year.

They are open to an Events Manager who has done either private or corporate events and have worked in house or for an agency. Ideally, they would like a mix of both private and corporate events.

Job Purpose

A key part of the charity’s conservation works to protect the world’s magnificent wildlife in the most joyful and engaging way possible. This role is responsible for contributing to the charity’s success by working with the Head of Relationships to deliver a series of high profile, income generating events and to steward and build relationships with the charity’s key stakeholders.

The successful Events Manager will need to have proven project management experience, as you will be responsible for the management of key relationships and for developing new income generating partnerships.

Events Manager Responsibilities

  • Plan, project manage and deliver all other events to a high standard, including Matriarch events.
  • Conduct post-event evaluation: reporting on analytical and numerical datasets to assist in making informed suggestions for continuous improvements to the way they plan and deliver events.
  • Create and maintain the events playbook for common tasks, including internal and external events’ brief templates and check lists,
  • Meet and exceed annual income targets for events
  • Report to corporate sponsors on reach and impact
  • Develop new events to engage supporters
  • Work alongside the Communications & Marketing team to develop campaigns and marketing materials across a number of channels
  • Work closely with the fundraising team to create informative / awareness raising events for existing and new supporters of the charity’s work.
  • Manage the selection and appointment of all consultants, contractors and partners delivering services for events e.g. events production, security, venues, catering etc
  • Work with the Programmes, Communications and Marketing teams to ensure events are aligned with the charity’s brand, positioning and current funding requirements
  • Maintain up-to-date records of events in Salesforce
  • Ensure systematic ‘thanking and banking’ system, ensuring thanking of donors is timely and genuine
  • Ensure timely processing of invoices and systematic payment monitoring
  • Provide reports on pipeline activity and budgets as required
  • Stewardship of sculpture buyers and partners

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Experience managing events with multiple key stakeholders
  • Experience using a CRM system (preferably Salesforce) to store events information
  • Proven experience in project-managing bespoke fundraising events
  • Experience of working with large complex budgets
  • Strong skills in database management and problem solving
  • Strong organisational skills, and a proven ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload, take initiative, and meet deadlines
  • The ability to work co-operatively and flexibly with others, both within and outside the organisation, demonstrating an understanding of effective team working and partnerships
  • Exceptional relationship management skills
  • Expertise in presenting in a persuasive manner and negotiating with people
  • Meticulous attention to detail and creativity to deliver high quality, creative events
  • Team player, highly motivated

Desirable:

  • Experience implementing a fundraising strategy
  • Experience of working with a charity or in corporate events
  • Good understanding of legal requirements relating to fundraising
