Equine-Facilitated Adolescent Psychotherapist

They are seeking a compassionate and skilled Child & Adolescent Equine Therapist to join their team. This role requires a dedicated professional with experience in providing mental health support to children, adolescents, and families, using equine-assisted therapy as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.

Focus:

  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions to children, adolescents, and families, integrating equine therapy techniques into treatment.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement therapeutic treatment plans tailored to client needs.
  • Assess and evaluate the emotional, behavioral, and psychological needs of clients to guide therapy approaches.
  • Offer crisis intervention and manage therapeutic restraints when necessary, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress and treatment outcomes.
  • Participate in regular training and development opportunities, ensuring up-to-date knowledge in therapeutic practices and equine therapy.

Skill Set:

  • Advanced degree in a field such as Clinical Mental Health, Psychology, or Human Services, with a focus on therapy and support.
  • Valid licensure to practice in Virginia as a licensed therapist, or eligibility to practice under supervision as a registered mental health professional.
  • Minimum of 24 months of hands-on experience delivering behavioral healthcare to pediatric populations and their caregivers.
  • PATH certification is preferred, though not required.
  • Ability to perform therapeutic restraints when necessary and in accordance with protocol.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check, drug screening, physical exam, and TB test is required.
