Environmental Supervisor
Title: Supervisor, Environmental
Basic Function
The company isseeking an Engineering Supervisor who will oversee and ensure compliance with all applicable local, state and federal environmental and laws and regulations, practices and procedures which may include transportation. Key emphasis on strategically leading and tactically driving environmental department and other refinery departments to develop and manage compliance efforts. Environmental compliance programs managed by the refinery staff include: RCRA hazardous waste permit/regulations; air permits/regulations; SPCC; wastewater management; TSCA/TRI; and remediation projects.
Job Duties
- Monitor key leading environmental indicators and initiate appropriate intervention with the SCRC Leadership Team as needed.
- Develop, prioritize and champion environmental goals and objectives for the Refinery.
- Review daily operations for compliance with air, water & waste regulations.
- Maintain changes in laws and regulations and influence where and when appropriate; ensure regulatory and company reporting requirements are met.
- Advise operations, maintenance and engineering departments on environmental requirements and responsibilities.
- Oversees accurate and timely submission of reports as required by permits.
- Lead a staff of environmental professionals, including developing and prioritizing work assignments.
- Manage employee development through coaching, mentoring and performance evaluations.
- Develop and manage the Environmental Team budget.
- Interface and negotiate environmental issues with state and federal regulatory agencies.
- Manage outside consultants and contractors as required.
- Follow HF Sinclair values and promote them by example.

- Create and maintain a neat, clean and well-organized and professional-looking work area.
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.
Experience
A minimum of 8 years of related experience is required.
Education Level
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field is required.
Required Skills
Leads and direct the work of others – typically Supervisors and senior individual contributors. Certification in Hazardous Waste Operator, Spill Response, Fire fighter and DOT Regulation required or preferred depending on management requirements of assigned location. Proficient with spreadsheet, presentation and word processing applications; advanced knowledge of laws, pronouncements and regulations pertaining to environmental permitting and operations; excellent planning, interpersonal, organizational, leadership, public presentation, analytical, ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication. Advanced reading and writing skills, with the ability to perform complex mathematical calculations.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility
Responsible for the supervision of approximately three employees.
Work Conditions
Office based with up to 20% travel by land and air required. Petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment, out-of-doors environment, and driver based environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, and rotating equipment. Subject to all weather varying road conditions.
Physical Requirements
Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, lifting and/or carrying up to 25lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 25lbs, climbing up to 10ft, ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates is essential, valid State driver's license and proof of insurance required, and wearing personal protective equipment (beards not permitted).
