Environmental Health and Safety Manager

As an Environmental Health and Safety Manager, you are tasked with leading and ensuring the effective administration of the Environmental Management System (EMS) across all company locations. You will actively manage all environmental policies, procedures, and compliance responsibilities, ensuring alignment with internal standards as well as state and federal regulations. This pivotal role requires strategic planning, meticulous oversight, and active engagement in sustainability practices to drive continual environmental improvements.

Salary: $110,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development and management of the environmental compliance calendar and all related permitting and regulatory activities.
  • Administer the facility's Wastewater Treatment System, ensuring operational compliance and accurate reporting.
  • Direct the disposal process for hazardous and non-hazardous materials, optimizing for sustainability and economic efficiency.
  • Lead company-wide sustainability initiatives, setting and achieving specific environmental targets.
  • Spearhead the Management of Change (MOC) process for environmental issues, ensuring thorough preparation and effective communication to the leadership teams.
  • Conduct detailed environmental inspections and coordinate remediation efforts to address compliance gaps or concerns.
  • Deliver comprehensive environmental health and safety training to employees, promoting a culture of safety and compliance.
  • Engage with all levels of staff about environmental responsibilities, encouraging participatory environmental management.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Proficient understanding of EMS and applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Strong capability to produce detailed reports and develop training materials for various environmental compliance topics.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office Suite for data analysis, presentation, and report writing.
  • Demonstrable experience in handling multiple projects simultaneously with high precision and expert prioritization skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Safety Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in an environmental compliance role within a manufacturing or similar heavy industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • Professional certifications related to environmental safety and health management (e.g., Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist).
  • Prior experience in a leadership role within environmental health and safety departments.
