We are seeking a dedicated Environmental & Energy Law Associate to join our reputable law firm, either in Philadelphia, PA or Newark, NJ. This role offers a unique opportunity to handle complex environmental matters involving litigation, regulatory frameworks, and transactional work. Ideal candidates will contribute to our Environmental & Energy Practice Group, providing expert legal service in situations pertaining to federal and state environmental laws. With a focus on Superfund, Natural Resource Damages (NRD), and toxic tort matters, this position offers professional growth in a challenging yet supportive environment.
Salary: $300,000.00 - $500,000.00 per year
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze and interpret federal and state environmental laws to provide legal advice to our clients.
- Represent clients in environmental litigation cases, including Superfund, NRD, and toxic tort matters.
- Engage in transactional work, including compliance checks and contract negotiations related to environmental law provisions.
- Prepare comprehensive legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, and advisory memos.
- Conduct thorough legal research and contribute to complex case strategies.
- Maintain ongoing communication with clients, providing updates and strategic advice.
- Collaborate with a team of lawyers and paralegals to effectively manage case files.
- Participate in practice group meetings and contribute to departmental goals and planning.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- JD from an accredited law school with a strong academic record.
- 3-5 years of experience in environmental law, including litigation, regulatory, and transactional practice areas.
- Admission to practice law in Pennsylvania (PA) and/or New Jersey (NJ) preferred, or willingness to obtain admission.
- Exceptional writing and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Proven track record of handling environmental legal matters.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with litigation involving Superfund, NRD or toxic tort matters.
- Strong understanding of federal and state environmental regulations and their application in legal cases.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to continual learning and development within the field of environmental law.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively deal with clients.
