Locus Biosciences is seeking a highly motivated and entrepreneurial applicant to join our research and development team as a full-time Data Analyst. This individual will be responsible for assisting in the generation, production and characterization of novel antimicrobial products. Primary responsibilities include maintaining and leveraging data acquired from automated and high-throughput instruments. The ideal candidate will be able to drive the automation of data acquisition from lab instruments, maintain a data warehouse, and derive meaningful insights from large datasets. This individual must be able to communicate effectively in formal and informal settings and be able to work well within a team. Candidates should have a passion for data-driven decision making and bringing life-saving therapeutics to patients.
Responsibilities will include:
50% effort; Data maintenance – Automation of data acquisition from lab equipment; data curation; data warehousing; data provenance; integration with Electronic Lab Notebook; providing data access to team; version control; containerization; script development
20% effort: Analytics– Work with key stakeholders to identify scientific questions of interest; execution and presentation of targeted analyses; exploratory analyses focused on increasing operationalization and efficiency of core Research and Discovery processes
20% effort: Reporting– dashboard development to track Key Performance Indicators for various teams and assets; implementation and maintenance of process queues for different teams; automation of document generation for technology transfer and internal reports
10% effort: Management of multiple projects, including reviewing, interpreting and recording results; maintaining lab records in Electronic Lab Notebooks; preparing materials to facilitate team meetings and broader presentations inside and outside the company.
Candidate must possess:
- A BS or MS in bioinformatics, computational biology, data science or equivalent
- At least 6 months experience (in addition to coursework) working in a research laboratory setting
- Proficient using UNIX-based environment, and scripting languages
- Proficiency in at least one programming language, e.g. Python, R, Julia, Java, C/C++, etc.
- At least two years’ experience between academic or industry research
- Experience with bash, python, and/or R
