Duties May include:

  • Establish continuous improvement goals and executes action plans.
  • Lead, train and mentor engineering personnel and support staff.
  • Establish, plan and direct engineering activities and priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Provide direction to and mentor junior engineers, technicians and support staff.
  • Work with Design Engineers to revise, and sustain HVAC product designs, utilizing knowledge of mechanical engineering principles; provide manufacturing technical resource to Design Project teams.
  • Develop and manage project schedules related to new or existing product launches or design modifications.
  • Document product designs by preparing bills of materials, cost analyses, drawings, and engineering change requests.
  • Assist in redesigning internal components to improve overall long term system quality, improve efficiency and reduce cost.
  • Develop engineering solutions to product related issues through problem solving and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Participate on cross functional teams to launch products, resolve issues, and support product improvements.
  • Coordinate project work internally with the department and externally with other departments to ensure on-time completion of projects within budget.
  • Participate in additional projects to support ongoing business needs.
  • Manages a team of design engineers, who will be working on projects related to residential and/or commercial HVAC product designs and/or their accessories.
  • Assists with product design by providing guidance based on technical knowledge and experience.
  • Manages resources to meet project workloads.
  • Assists with defining project scopes and timing.
  • Provides support for both manufacturing and field issues.
  • Defines and implements continuous improvement opportunities, lean initiatives, and design for manufacturing (DFM) tools.
  • Leverages engineering analytical tools (e.g., tolerance, FE, and CFD analyses) to facilitate product design.
  • Assists with product design documentation including bills of materials, cost analyses, drawings, and engineering change requests.
  • Supports agency certifications for both safety (UL, ETL) and performance (DOE, AHRI).
  • Works with suppliers to improve quality and resolve product issues.
  • Mentors team members to prepare them for greater responsibility within the organization.
  • Prepares development and succession plans for their team.
