Engineering Manager (Consulting)

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to join the hiring company's team in North-Central Victoria. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers and managing a variety of civil engineering projects. You will also have the opportunity to mentor and develop junior staff. This is a newly created role within a growing company, and as such, it is a great opportunity for a junior manager to step up. This role will coordinate the Engineering Department for Central and Northern Victoria.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Engineering Department and coordinate activities in Central and Northern Victoria.
- Project management, including resource allocation, budget monitoring, and design work oversight.
- Provide technical leadership and advice, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
- Build and maintain client relationships, and seek new business opportunities.
- Support tendering/quotation processes and contribute to business management.
- Mentor staff and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A Bachelor of Civil Engineering or similar.
- Experience in managing civil engineering projects.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- A passion for civil engineering.
- A desire to live and work in Bendigo.
Registrations:
- You must be a Registered Professional Engineer (Victoria and/or NSW).
- Engineers Australia – Chartered Professional Engineers will be well regarded or working towards.
Experience and Knowledge:
- Extensive experience in land development and/or local government.
- A good understanding and demonstrated interest in the land development industry & processes.
- An understanding of local government and its operation.
- DTP (VicRoads) design experience would be an advantage.
- Experience in managing technical teams.
- Current Australian Driver’s licence.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including negotiation and report writing.
- A pro-active team player able to make things happen “on time and on budget”.
- Able to clearly and confidently present ideas and concepts to clients, authorities, management and staff.
- Able to liaise closely with other staff in a professional manner.
- A creative thinker with a lateral approach to problem solving, enabling implementation of practical solutions.
- Able to foster healthy working relationships with colleagues, authorities and clients.
- A genuine commitment to customer service, and to the principles and implementation of their Integrated Management System.
