Engineering & Quality Manager

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Quality and Engineering Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and managing the quality and engineering functions within our organization. You will oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality systems and processes while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives and enhance product quality and performance. The ideal candidate has a strong background in quality management, engineering principles, and a track record of successful leadership in a manufacturing or engineering environment.

Responsibilities:

Engineering Management:

  • Provide expert guidance and mentorship to the engineering team, ensuring the highest engineering standards and best practices are followed.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in engineering disciplines relevant to our industry and provide strategic direction for the team's technical growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative engineering solutions that address complex challenges.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they are completed within budget, on schedule, and according to specifications.
  • Define project scopes, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders, and establish clear milestones and objectives for the team.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks, troubleshoot issues, and resolve conflicts to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Lead and inspire a team of engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Recruit top engineering talent, onboard new team members, and provide ongoing coaching and professional development opportunities.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, set goals, and provide constructive feedback to drive individual and team growth.

Engineering Process Improvement:

  • Identify areas for process optimization and efficiency improvements within the engineering function.
  • Implement best practices, tools, and methodologies to streamline workflows, enhance productivity, and ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and encourage engineers to explore new technologies and techniques that can benefit our projects.

Quality Management:

  • Develop and implement quality systems, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and customer requirements.
  • Establish and maintain quality control plans, inspection procedures, and product specifications to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions to address quality issues.
  • Drive the investigation and resolution of product non-conformities, customer complaints, and supplier quality issues.
  • Monitor key quality metrics, analyze data, and generate reports to track performance and drive continuous improvement.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reliability, and performance.
  • Utilize quality tools and methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and statistical analysis to identify process improvements and reduce defects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process optimization projects and drive cost reduction efforts.
  • Facilitate and participate in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for quality issues and customer complaints.
  • Manage and oversee internal and external audits to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Review audit findings and recommendations and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor and track the progress of audit actions, ensuring timely resolution of identified issues.
  • Promote a culture of quality and provide training and guidance to employees on quality principles and practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience in quality management, mechanical and product engineering, or a related role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems, standards (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO14001, OSHSAS18001, ISO/EC17025, VDA6.3, VDA6.5, FORD Q1 CERTIFICATION, etc.).
  • Familiarity with engineering principles, product development processes, and manufacturing operations.
  • Experience in driving continuous improvement initiatives and implementing lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) are a plus.
